What is Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV) and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) has surfaced in China and is a new strain that hasn’t been previously identified in humans.
Coronaviruses are normally zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.
On 31 December 2019, the World Health Organisation China Office was informed of cases of pneumonia (of unknown cause) detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China. A novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was identified as the causative virus by Chinese authorities on 7 January.
Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.
In light of recent events in NZ regarding Covid-19 as well as the upcoming flu season, we recommend that you or your organisation take advantage of our Biohazard Decontamination and Antimicrobial Surface Treatment Services.
Applying surface treatments that kill the virus on contact can substantially aid in slowing transmission thereby reducing the impact on our healthcare system and on workplaces. If we can further assist by reducing the impact of influenza during this flu season, we can further support our healthcare workers in maintaining capacity to support critical Covid-19 sufferers.
We offer a thorough decontamination of all surfaces with a safe, non toxic, antimicrobial coating treatment, leaving your buildings and vehicles with lasting protection against viruses, bacteria and moulds. The antimicrobial technology we use is powered by Zoono technology and formulated to deter the toughest germs and pathogens for up to 30 days, including Covid-19.
